Metal Storage Sheds - Organize Your Home

Due to the fact that long term renting storage is simply too expensive, the accumulated amount of money could have get a person his own storage shed. The sum of money you pay for the rented store will be equal to the amount of having your own storage house in your backyard.

People often need extra rooms to contain their belongings yet they are worried of the possibly damages if the items are not stored properly. Metal storage sheds are the best option for this purpose. They can be much elaborated or built as simple as you want it to be. The storage kits are easily available and you can erect your own shed easily. If you are equipped with few fundamental construction skills then you can have the shed built faster than an afternoon.

Lowes Build

You can place a layer of cement pad as the base of your storage shed to help protect your things. This can avoid the accumulation of moisture in the shed. For this, the concrete is definitely a more preferred idea as the wood is vulnerable to pests and they easily retain water.

You can place anything into your metal storage sheds. Certain items are only used once in a blue moon; for instance the decorations for Christmas, Easter or Halloween. You certainly do not want to compile them in any visible corners of your home collecting dust. Your storage shed can also be used to store your clothing, especially if you live in a four-season country. You do not need to have a huge wardrobe to accommodate all your clothes and you can replenish them with the right garments for the particular season.

The storage shed is also wonderful to hoard your unused belongings with sentimental values - perhaps some valuable gifts from family or friends, baby bed or bassinet for future use. Having a shed is the great solution to store items the most cost-effective way yet they are easily available if you need them.

Best Closet Layouts For Storage Space Efficiency

The proper closet Layouts are critical to maximizing the efficiency of your storage spaces. For every given storage space there are literally hundreds design options available. If you use computer aided design software (CAD) finding the closet layouts that meets the needs of your home or business is relatively easy. A quick check of the Internet will provide you with lots of design ideas. Most of the top closet design and installation companies provide good online software that allows you to initially design your storage area. Depending on your needs and budget you may want to call in a closet design specialist to assist you.

In the past closet design and construction were relatively simple. You basically had one clothes pole or rod that ran the length of the closet with a single shelf located above. If you have ever been in any older home you have seen these age old designs. When in use these closets have the top shelve full of boxes and on the floor is a mixture of footwear, boxes and bags of clothing. The clothes pole is full from wall to wall with very little organization. Any clothing removed from the closet looks just awful with wrinkles and stretched fabric. These old closets were fine back when most people had few clothes and only one or two pairs of shoes and boots.

Lowes Build

Today's closet layouts reflect the changes in our lifestyles. Analyzing what you are going to store in your closet or storage area is a critical first step in any design. Obviously storage areas for a business, home, basement or garage are all going to have different requirements.

Never the less there are still just two basic types of closets. The "reach in closet" consists of a single wall layout that can be accessed from outside the closet simply by opening the closet door or doors. All shelves and/or clothes poles are located along the back wall of the storage area or closet. Reach in closets are the most common closet found in any home or office. Again maximizing the efficiency of this space requires you to itemize all the possible items that would be stored within the storage space.

Walk-in closets come in many different size and shapes. The largest walk-in closet layouts allow for at least 3 walls of shelving and clothes poles. In general well designed U-shaped closets and storage are very efficient in maximizing space. Proper design and installation of a walk-in closet will most often require the expertise of a closet or storage space specialist or contractor.

Locating the expertise that you need will depend on where you live. One of the easiest places to find assistance is you local home improvement store. Both Lowes and Home Depot provide simple closet layouts assistance. They also have contractors that can install your closet for you. If you live in an urban area most likely there will be closet and storage space designers and contractors that will provide you with the ideas and options that will meet all your storage needs.

Using Storage Cubes to Hide Clutter in Your Home

When it comes to keeping your home out of disarray each person has a different approach to cleaning up clutter. One of the best ways to keep rooms in your home or office manageable and clutter free is the use of storage cubes. They are cubes that come in a variety of styles and sizes. Many of the materials differ as well from wood to poly vinyl as well as wire and mesh systems.

Whether your cleaning up a closet and you want to use them as a closet organizer or your straightening up your garage at home storage cubes and cabinets can utilize minimal space for maximum storage benefit. They also come in handy for college students in dorm rooms and for your children in their bedrooms. The modular systems can be modified to fit all your essentials.

Lowes Build

A storage cube can come in an array of colors and sizes. They can be free standing on rollers or wall mountable with shelving and drawers. Many of them include 2 section double cubes, 2 tier cubes, an expandable 5 section honeycomb and even shoe cubbys to add to your existing cube selection. Basic storage cubes can serve many functions and come with wire setups or several selections of high class wood.

Wood storage cubes come in several classy selections such as cherry, honey, white, black and walnut options. These are really great if you wanna make your room more tastefully appropriate as opposed to a black or white plastic cube sitting out that is more of an eyesore. The plastic selections typically used in a garage or utility room or even dorm room come with 4 and 5 cube sets stackable and also on rollers for easy mobility.

When deciding on a storage cube to use the best way to go about it is going to your local Walmart, Home Depot, Lowes or even Target and check out their selection. While many of the storage cabinets or cubes are readily available in you local stores there is always a greater selection online and usually at a discount.

How to Build a Storage Shed

There are tons of people who are looking to learn how to build a storage shed by themselves, and it can be a tough job, especially if you've never done it before! There are many ways to learn how to build a storage shed, and the way I recommend the most is to purchase a storage shed kit. Storage shed kits are available at locations such as Lowes, home depot, and even online.

The advantages of storage shed kits is that they are very easy to follow along with, and they include step-by-step detailed instructions and often include diagrams. They save you the time and hassle of building a storage shed from scratch. They also save you money because you won't have to hire someone to do it for you.

Lowes Build

Before you learn how to build a storage shed, you should first figure out what type of material you are going to use. The most popular are; vinyl, wood, and metal (aluminum). Vinyl is becoming more popular lately, and the reason why is probably because you don't need to paint it, and you won't ever have to worry about it rusting.

As you are learning how to build a storage shed, you will realize that there are a lot of little details involved that you can't ignore. If you choose to build a wooden shed, there are different types of lumber you can choose from. The main ones to avoid are green wood and unseasoned wood. These types of wood tend to split very easily when dry, so make sure you pick a lumber that won't do this. Kiln dried lumber on the other hand, won't split when dry, and it is a popular choice for storage sheds.

If you don't want to buy a storage shed kit, you can also learn how to build a storage shed with a software program. There are many available, and the popular ones are; instant shed and shop design, which is available on amazon.com. Instant engineer is another one that is also available on amazon and reasonably priced.

If you aren't very interested in purchasing a software program, or buying any storage shed kits, there are still more options to choose from. If you have a search on the internet, you can find storage shed plans for very cheap, and also for free. These shed plans are very detailed and easy to follow along with. They are excellent if you want to learn how to build a storage shed. They are sent to you via email once you pay for them, so you won't have to wait days, or weeks for them to be delivered by mail.

Building your own storage shed can be a fun project for the whole family. It can save you a lot of money by creating one yourself rather than hiring someone else to do it! To learn more about how to build a storage shed, please visit the website below.

Sharepoint - More Than Just Document Storage

My management team decided that we were to use SharePoint for a few of its basic features a few months or so ago. Our hosted SharePoint solution was really meant to be used for document storage and task lists, which were incredibly helpful and made us more productive. It is also great when members of our team are out on the road; they have access to the same resources over the web, as they would in the office. And it is completely secure to share those documents among us.

So with how addicting it is, we've recently made use of another feature that has become incredibly addictive! While we work out of our office, occasionally we find members of our team travelling from time to time, to meet clients, vendors, etc. It makes it difficult to manage everyone's schedule, and plan for meetings when we can be going up to twelve different directions at the same time.

Grow Calendar 2011

So we've started to use the Calendar feature of SharePoint. It was really simple at first: we just put in the days that we were unavailable or out of the office. Some of us set up alerts so that we would be notified by email when anything was added or deleted.

Seems simple, right? But what was really great, is that this calendar can integrate right into Microsoft Outlook 2007, which our entire team was already using. So, while we were scheduling our client and vendor meetings, if a meeting was already scheduled in our SharePoint calendar, we could see it, right there in Outlook! A user doesn't even have to log into the hosted SharePoint account: Outlook will even allow you to drag and drop calendar entries between your Outlook calendar and your SharePoint calendar. It makes it so much easier to coordinate all of our meetings, without the embarrassment of having to cancel and reschedule.

What makes the Calendar really easy to use is that it can also integrate with a Meeting workspace that you set up. That is my next task; to find out how useful these Meeting workspaces are for us. But one thing is for certain: our hosted SharePoint has made it not only easy to use SharePoint, but easier to work out of the office.

Storage Sheds

Storage sheds can either be portable or permanent. Common materials are wood, metal, and concrete. They are actually very easy to build even if you have never built one before. You can purchase shed plans, or buy shed kits at hardware stores such as Lowes. This is usually cheaper than hiring someone to build one for you. The kits can be purchased with windows and doors already pre-cut, which will save you time and hassle.

Storage shed kits will include the wood and other building materials you will need, precut to the exact sizes. Materials include floor joists, floor plates, floor deck, roof panels, wall studs, wall plates, angle brackets, stud brackets, prefabricated siding, and more. Also, there are doors, windows, with detailed assembly instructions. To build a storage shed, all one has to do is to assemble the pieces according to the instructions included in the kit.

Lowes Build

Here are some things to consider when choosing your material. Wood has to be good quality such as cedar; or else you may have problems with cockroaches. Also, you have to be careful with wood as it rots after exposure to moisture for prolonged periods of time. An alternative to wood is Poly vinyl carbonate because it resists corrosion, is not affected by heat and insects, and is very durable and inexpensive.

Its up to you how you would like to go about building your shed. Storage shed kits save time and hassle, and you can also purchase storage shed plans online.

How to Build a Storage Shed in 11 Steps

To get started building a shed you can go to your local home depot or Lowes. Building a storage shed is no different than building a home. I'm going to show you step by step how to build one from scratch.

Tools For The Job:

Lowes Build

1. The first thing you do is get some 2x4's. Normally these are wood but they come in a variety of different materials. I would suggest using wood to start off. I'm from the old school and wood always worked better for me. Other types of 2x4's work good as well.

2. Once you have all of your materials such your wood, nails, henges and other hardware you are ready to choose your location and design.

3. You will also need right angle brackets and T brackets to assemble your shed. These can easily attached using power tools. You will also have to pre drill your holes and use self tapping screws to secure your shed. There several ways to assemble your shed based upon your area or climate. Ask your local hardware store for different types of hardware used to secure your shed.

4. Start out by laying your 2x4's on a flat surface and you can use the standard stud width of 15 inches but you may have to check your local building codes.

5. You can use the standard size of 6x4 plywood for your sides for convenience.

6. For tools you will need a measuring tape and hammer, a plumb bob line and level, circular saw, a carpenter's square and don't forget your screw driver.

7. It's a good idea to check with your home owners association about building codes and to make sure your in compliance with your neighborhood regulations. It would be terrible to have your shed torn down after all of your hard work.

8. If frost is a problem in your area make sure you leave concrete padding around your post to prevent damage from frosting.

9. All buildings start at the foundation. You always begin from the bottom then work your way up. Make sure the floor rests on skids (pieces of woods that support the foundation and allows you to relocate your shed). Make sure your joists are approximately 2 ft apart. 4 foot cladding boards match up with this perfect. Nail your joists to the top and bottom of your 2x4's to form a rectangle of the appropriate size.

10. Make sure to secure your horizontal 'Noggings' perpendicular to your studs. This provides structural integrity.

11. Now you can call your buddy to help you. It's time to raise the walls. It's very important to make sure that as you raise and secure the wall sidings make sure they remain flush with your foundation. All sides should be right angles to each other.

Adding a Metal Storage Shed Will Keep Your Cottage Neat and Organized

Do you feel like your life is becoming cluttered and you need to do something about it quick? If you do, then there is certainly a solution for you. You can remove the clutter from your life and you don't have to wait weeks or months to do it. You can actually do it in a matter of days and you can do it all on your own.

If you're looking for a good do-it-yourself project that you can have done in just a matter of days and you feel like you're being overcome with clutter in your home, then a storage shed project is going to be the project that you need. But if you're thinking you're going to need saws, hammers, nails, and other tools, you don't need to think that at all. In fact, you can simply install a prefab metal storage shed that even the least carpentry inclined individual can install. All you need is the metal storage shed, a plan to put down some flooring if you like, and a few simple tools.

Lowes Build

Putting up the shed

Let's face it. If you were to have someone else do it, it would take a long time. There would be hammering, sawing, drilling, and all sorts of loud noises for who knows how long. You'd have to deal with the anxiety of having your building finished as soon as possible, but such frustrations as slow workers and inclement weather would be working against you. Before you would know it, you would have several weeks behind you and just half of a building.

Purchasing a prefab metal storage shed removes all of these frustrations. As a matter of fact, a metal storage shed will most likely last you longer than a wood storage shed or a shed made out of another type of material. They are also very easy to assemble and are more cost-effective. And believe it or not, you can do the entire project yourself. All you have to do is follow the assembly instructions and you are on your way to having yourself a storage shed in no time. It is a project that you can feel proud of yourself over and it is a project that is going to keep your life neat and organized.

However, you have to make sure that you choose a prefab metal shed that is the right size for the things you want to store. If you don't have enough room, you're still going to experience a certain degree of clutter that you do not want to have to deal with. The point of putting up the shed is to remove the clutter from your life, so making sure you have one of ample size is how you're going to do that.

Neatness and organization

The project isn't finished until you start organizing your home by placing items within your prefab storage shed. You'll notice that by storing items in your shed, you'll free up room in your home for those things that you regularly use. You can also free up room for new things that you need. One reason why some individuals do not buy new things is because they have no room for them. Now that problem is solved and you can enjoy a life that is free of clutter. If you need something, then you can simply go to your storage shed and get it. Once you start organizing one part of your life, you'll notice that the rest of your life will become organized as well. You can then kick back and enjoy it.
